She started it on Instagram in 2020 to spotlight what local businesses were doing, and it grew into a guide to the whole Triangle: weekend plans, new openings, parks and patios, and the small businesses worth your money. If it is on this site, she would send a friend there.

DPAC’s fall lineup is stacked with three Broadway runs back to back, and if you are trying to figure out which one to grab tickets for first, here is the rundown of what is playing, when, and what each one actually is.

DPAC fall Broadway season guide from The Raleigh Local

Buena Vista Social Club

Running September 22 through 27, this is the Broadway musical built around the legendary Cuban musicians and the album that introduced them to the world. It is less a jukebox musical and more a warm, danceable piece of musical theater, and it is the shortest run of the three, so if this one is on your list, do not wait on tickets.

Maybe Happy Ending

This one runs October 13 through 18. It is the newer, quieter show of the bunch, a sweet, offbeat love story between two outdated helper robots, and it picked up serious buzz (and Tony wins) since it opened. If you want something a little different from the usual big-and-loud touring musical, this is the one.

Mrs. Doubtfire

Closing out the season October 30 through November 1, right around Halloween weekend, Mrs. Doubtfire brings the family comedy to the stage with the kind of costume-change chaos you would expect. It is the most family-friendly pick of the three and a fun way to close out an already busy Halloween weekend in the Triangle.

Tickets and Details

All three run at DPAC, 123 Vivian St in Durham. Showtimes vary by date (evening and matinee performances are both in the mix for each run), so check DPAC’s Broadway page for the exact schedule and to grab tickets before a specific date sells out.

If you are building a bigger fall calendar around this, I am also keeping a fall concert guide for Koka Booth Amphitheatre and a weekend-by-weekend festival guide for everything else going on around the Triangle this season.
