New feature I am starting: a quick rundown of what is actually worth doing in Fuquay-Varina each weekend, so you do not have to scroll through five different calendars to figure it out. Here is the weekend of September 19 and 20.
The Big One: Naylor Family Farm Opens for the Season
Saturday, September 19 is opening day at Naylor Family Farm on US-401. The corn maze is the draw, and it is the kind of thing worth building your whole Saturday morning around. I wrote up the full visit, including ticket info, here, and if Naylor is not the only patch you are considering, I also rounded up every other pumpkin patch and corn maze worth the drive this fall.
While You Are in Town
If you are already headed out to Naylor, make a day of it. Fuquay-Varina actually has two separate downtown districts worth a walk, and I broke down what makes each one different, plus where to eat, in this guide. Farm in the morning, downtown in the afternoon, is about as close to a perfect Fuquay-Varina Saturday as it gets.
Looking Ahead: Celebrate Fuquay-Varina Festival
If this weekend does not work for you, mark your calendar for the following Saturday, October 3, when the Celebrate Fuquay-Varina Festival takes over 100 S Main St from 11am to 5pm. It is the kind of downtown street festival that makes this town worth the drive on its own, separate from anything happening out at the farms.
A Quick Note on This Series
I am planning to keep this weekend rundown going for Fuquay-Varina specifically, since it is where I live and where I hear about things first. Some weekends will be packed, others will be quieter, and I would rather tell you the truth about that than pad it out with filler. If you know about something happening around town that I should be tracking, downtown events, church festivals, school fundraisers, brewery nights, send it my way so it makes the next one. And once Halloween gets closer, I will have the full rundown of Halloween events across the Triangle ready to go too.

Keep exploring: things to do in Fuquay-Varina and what’s happening this weekend.
